February 25, 2016 - Chelsey Thorpe

STEM Gateway and the Women’s Resource Center (WRC) at the University of New Mexico are proud to announce our new partnership in support of women in STEM. In the coming months, our programs will bring informative events and relevant resources to STEM students on campus.

To kick-off our collaboration with the WRC, this edition of Student Survivors will feature our student event coordinator, Aakriti Mishra. Read her bio below and learn all about the mastermind behind our upcoming events for women in STEM!

“Hi, my name is Aakriti Mishra, but you guys can call me Ari. I'm a Junior here at UNM. I am a Biology major with a double minor in Chemistry and Psychology. I'm working towards a career in the medical field. I've been a Peer Learning Facilitator for the STEM Gateway program for 5 semesters now.  I love that I get to teach some of my favorite subjects, work with enthusiastic students, collaborate with dedicated professors, and succeed alongside my amazing coworkers. I love taking on new challenges and experiences.  My most recent endeavor is with the Women's Resource Center (WRC). I'm going to be collaborating with the WRC to set up events for the Women in STEM initiative. I'm really excited to start planning fun and helpful events/resources for everyone and to work with the wonderful people at the WRC!”
